Otrok novega časa A child of a new time

Gozd je prijatelj, učitelj in vzgojitelj otroka. Brez besed ga uči živega razmišljanja, odzivnega vedenja in prisotnega delovanja. Narava ni nekaj ‘drugega’, to je on sam.

The forest is a friend, teacher and educator of the child. Without words, it teaches him vivid thinking, responsive behaviour, and present action. Through confrontation with the living environment, the child learns everything about himself through experience, feeling and perception. He understands that nature is an extended understanding of himself, for without nature and the atmosphere he would not exist. Nature is not something ‘other’, it is himself. Perhaps this is the most neglected aspect of nature… to feel the pulsation of life underfoot, in the wind, in the weather, in budding… is a necessity, not just relaxation or fun, although it is also that because only through feeling and reading life can we cooperate constructively and mutually beneficial.

The child of the new age will interact with life as with a sentient being who communicates and guides. He understands the plant, the animal and the environment through careful observation, he knows when life is in need and when it swells with abundance, he understands that everything in nature perceives it. Sensitivity to the living also revives him, and such a child knows how to listen in the most authentic way without learning to do so. Encouraging a child to spend unplanned time in nature is certainly a move of a wise man who does not interfere in the presence of a child. Let’s discard plans, don’t cling to goals when we enter nature, and don’t accumulate mileage and heart rate, just listen to a still-living child and allow him to be. This is the most a parent can do for a child and allow both of them to be.
